25 kV Substation Renewals

Navitas Engineering was engaged by J. Murphy & Sons to undertake GRIP3 Option Development for the renewal of two 25 kV AC substations, and GRIP5 design for the renewal two 25 kV AC SMOS substations for the Network Rail Anglia region.

The option development work examined principally options for switchgear solutions, substation locations, substation SCADA, OLE for power and LV supplies.

For the SMOS renewal sites, Navitas produced detailed designs to cover renewals of the SMOS circuit breakers, the protection IEDs, and, in conjunction with Sella Controls, the RTU renewals. The detailed design produced covered all aspects required to renew the equipment – HV switchgear design solution and associated terminations, cable block diagrams, LV supply changes, earthing & bonding requirements, staged protection design, LV cabling, LV protection studies, I/O schedules, cable schedules and termination wiring schedules.
